Main Menu Donkeys for driving. We occasionally train donkeys that wish to drive in order to re-home them. It is our aim to encourage people who want to learn to drive to start with a well-schooled donkey that enjoys performing its job. We also aim to provide donkeys that are more exciting to drive for more experienced drivers. Some donkeys will need to go to people who especially wish to compete, as they will be gifted in that area. There is little point pushing a donkey that does not enjoy driving to do the job. Our aim is to provide donkeys that enjoy driving as much as you do. Donkeys need as much schooling as dogs or horses. They are more intelligent than horses and therefore their training is often overlooked. When they appear to refuse to co-operate under these conditions they tend to be misunderstood. However, like dogs when they are well trained for the task that suits them they become faithful friends, thinking for themselves and doing the task for you. When a donkey is trained by Donkey Driving Enterprises we encourage the owners to keep up their lessons with our donkeys occasionally, to keep their skills up so they can drive their donkeys well. If there are any problems, Debbie will be happy to visit owners at home to provide lessons in how to drive their trained donkey with excellence. If donkeys are trained in an area that does not suit them, they may decide not to co-operate. If a well-schooled driving donkey refuses to drive, find out what it is good at and school it in that area. It may prefer riding, carrying packsaddles, church or festival work.
